wow really Android 4.1?Ģ Locate button in Locus won´t work in Noxplayer?ģ If I search a pharmacy or petrol station around my street, it finds always something >100km away?ĥ Build a simple route with 5 waypoints. Both on cellpone and computer.ġ Used Locus in Bluestacks and NOX Player. I will see how easy it will be rebuilding my trips in Norway with Locus free or some other aps/websides. Thats ok because you use it on PC or notebook. Or import all my routes as overview for the complete journey, but therefor I use BC and/or google maps.Ī route planning and organisation tool is complex. Maybe for hiking as backup for my paper maps. I see no advantage in using Locus free at the moment. It is really cool that so many different apps exist and we all find some for our needs. but not clicable? No information nothing? Coloring a route? A quick test in Norway, standard map hasn´t ferries? Damn I really have to read a manual? for standards?

Ok it uses Graphhoper (free version!) it has the same limitation in avoidings like google maps no advantage over BC (don´t forget it is free too) maybe PRO version is different? Standard online map shows me icons for restaurants. But the most simple things aren´t obviously. Yes I know Locus has a steep learning curve. wow really Android 4.1? Interface, visual maps, number of maps sources free and paid, weather, input and actual drawing a track by hand using a trackpad.all much better. I can even run this on a cheap beater 11-13" "road" laptop for offline routing with no wifi/cellular in my tent?.using nox android emulator.

Since you can have so many wonderful elevation shaded maps on locus for free from openandro and other sources and you can do excellent routing even offline using brouter?.what is missing? The tactile input using a trackpad is so much easier in locus.and it is actively developed.

I find locus pro to be the best for many reasons not worth going in to now but I would like to hear from anyone who is a power user in basecamp and locus pro.because I'm thinking there is nothing missing in LP that BC has. I suspect the other issue you'd have would be getting the info from the Android Tablet and onto the Garmin. For route planning, I find basecamp clunky and very weak and I know it does work but there seems better options all around.just need to figure out good workflow. It says in the description it's available for Apple and Android (well it mentions Google Play). In which case Tyre do have a free app available that may do what your after, not tried it but I did notice it the other day when I was on their site. However I'm guessing if your using Basecamp/Tyre you already have a Garmin GPS system and this is to plan your routes to load onto your GPS device? One thing I have learnt - if you switch it to 'walking' mode remember to switch it back to bike or car mode as otherwise it get's confused why you can travel so fast and the routing goes to pot:-) I've just checked on my Android Tablet and it is available for free but they also have paid 'premium' ones for the US and Europe - however the functionality of the free one looks good. The advantage of CoPilot is that the maps, route etc are on the device so if you don't have internet/data access it will still work fine. The app itself is free but I've got the paid version as I wanted to save multiple waypoint routes on it.

I use the Windows Phone version but they also have it for Android and Apple devices. RickI use CoPilot GPS (ALK Technologies). Tyre requires Windows and Internet Explorer to run right, and the LG tablet doesn't have Windows. Does anyone use an Android based tablet to use any mapping programs? I'd like to use an LG Tablet while traveling. I always use Tyre for my mapping, but I use my laptop to do it from home.
